About the Benchtop Fluid Dispenser | Island
Compact, easy-to-use systems that can be configured with all of GPD Global© dispense pumps including the impressive PCD Series for continuously volumetric dispensing over a wide range of fluids.
Island Series robots may be configured with the full range of GPD Global dispense pumps: PCD Volumetric, Precision Auger, NCM5000 jetting, and time pressure. Each system can control a single dispense pump or multiples of the same pump if the system is configured with a tandem mount. The adjustable tandem mount allows multiples of the same type of pump to be used at the same time to increase throughput. The mount is adjustable in pitch and yaw to accurately locate the dispense tips for pallet or strip dispensing.
Dispense pumps can be fed from either syringe or bulk reservoirs. Depending on the pump selected for the process, syringe sizes can vary from 3 cc to 55 cc. Larger cartridges, such as 20 ounces, can be mounted on the site of the robot and pressure fed to the pump. For high volume applications that require the transfer of fluid from large reservoirs, the necessary ram or pump can be interfaced with the Island Series.
The Island Series work table can be configured with a simple plate and mounting holes for your own fixturing, or an adjustable set of tooling can be provided with the work table. For extra stability or to hold product flat during dispensing, the work table is available with vacuum. A heated work table is also available for applications that benefit from elevated temperatures. Either way, Island Series systems can handle a wide range of products. Work area sizes range from 300 mm x 400 mm x 100 mm (11.8” x 15.75” x 3.9”) up to 400 mm x 400 mm x 100 mm (15.75” x 15.75” x 3.9”).
Operation of the robot is done via a teach pendant or computer interface. All programming functions are available in both teach formats so either can be used. The teach pendant is compact and can be placed next to the system without the need for additional tabletop space. A program may be programmed on the computer, then operated by the teach pendant.
Island Series tabletop dispenser robots are available in either a stepper or servo configuration. The smallest robot, the Island 2, is available only in stepper configuration.
CHOOSE SERVO OVER STEPPER
Stepper systems need to home before each program execution to be sure that no steps have been lost from the previous program run. Servo systems are closed loop and do not need a home between program runs. Smooth motion is obtained from the servo system.
